Africa has the world’s lowest access to power and ranks poorly on transportation and sanitation, a situation that results from decades-long underinvestment in infrastructure. This trend raised domestic production and transportation costs, which eroded the competitive advantage of the region on low wages and contributed to the continent‘s slow industrialization.
